Cash for sport up for grabs
MP DAN Rogerson is urging sports clubs, schools and organisations to make the most of Sport England funding so that North Cornwall gets its share of Olympic legacy cash.
Sport England invests money from the National Lottery and Grant-in-Aid money from the Government in five different schemes to increase the number of people playing sport regularly, improve sporting facilities and develop sporting talent.
Since 2010 the organisation has made grants ranging from £1,200 to £50,000, totalling £439,000 in the North Cornwall area.
This includes £50,000 each for Launceston Cricket Club, Camelford Leisure Centre, Wadebridge Camels Rugby Club, Wadebridge Tennis Club and towards a new cricket pavilion on Summerleaze Downs in Bude.

Now Mr Rogerson is urging local organisations to make the most of funding that is still available.
He said: "Money from Sport England is hugely welcome and has already made a big contribution to local clubs, organisations and schools. Last year I was pleased to present £50,000 to Camelford Leisure Centre and to Wadebridge Camels Rugby Club; I know how important the money has been for both.
"There is still money available, and so I hope local clubs will put in bids to Sport England for whatever they need to improve facilities or coaching, get new equipment and make sure as many people as possible can get involved in sport locally."
Applications can be made for sport and coaching equipment, modernising facilities, protecting playing fields, and supporting grassroots activities. There are several different funding pots ranging from £300 to £500,000 grants.
