Categories announced for St Ives Speech and Drama Fest
THE JUDGING classes for the 14th ST Ives Speech and Drama Festival have been announced as the event returns to its original home of The Island Centre in November.
This year's Festival will be held on November 13 and 14.
Classes include Verse speaking, Prose reading, Shakespeare speech, Acting, Mime, Bible reading, Newsreader-style and original verse and there are classes for all ages, as individuals, duos and groups.
Schools across the area have been sent the syllabus and children from nursery age up will be invited to take part in poem recitals, public speaking and acting competitions.

Prizes will also now be awarded in a range of Cornish language categories.
The organisers said: “After a successful demonstration last year, our syllabus this year includes Cornish language classes and we are proud to announce that the Adjudicator for these will be past Grand Bard of the Cornish Gorsedd Mick Paynter, whose bardic name is Skogynn Pryv.
“A new trophy has been generously donated by Agan Tavas, the Society for the Protection and Promotion of the Cornish Language, for the highest mark across these classes.”
The adjudicator for the other classes will be actor, director and playwright Helen Grady from Southampton.
