Cement wagon comes to sticky end in west Cornwall
A CEMENT wagon came to a sticky end in the far west of Cornwall this morning after coming off the road near the hamlet of Crows-An-Wra between Lands End and St Buryan.
The lorry – painted in the colours of Cornwall Ready Mix Concrete - was heading west on a long straight just before the village near Land's End when it came off the road and ended up on its side.
Police and the ambulance service were quickly on the scene but the driver of the lorry was able to climb out of the window of the truck after it came to rest and was unhurt. No one else is thought to have been involved.
Kenneth Spooner, who lives at Crows-An-Wra said: "It's a huge cement truck and it's come off the road and is lying on its side in the ditch so you can only see its undercarriage. There were two police cars and an ambulance. It does not look like any other vehicles were involved."

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the incident happened at around 10.45am this morning [Tuesday]. He said a diversion may be required later to allow a crane to recover the truck.
Cornwall Ready Mix Concrete said the driver of the lorry was able to climb out of the lorry once it had come to rest and report the accident himself to the company. A spokeswoman said the wagon was not owned or maintained by the company but hired the lorry and driver from a contractor.
It is thought the lorry was only carrying dry cement at the time of the accident.
