Centre could open in 2014
A NEW £9 million local authority administrative centre in Bodmin is expected to be open for business by the summer of 2014.
Cornwall Council will build the office complex at the Beacon Technology Park and it will be capable of accommodating 350 staff.
It is the first phase of a potential building programme that could see as many as 675 people working there.
The local authority believes constructing the new offices at the technology park could tempt other private companies to move to the site.

The council is scheduled to submit a planning application in January, with construction work expected to start next summer.
The local authority has acquired three plots of land on the site which was formerly owned by the defunct South West Regional Development Agency, and has come up with initial design plans for the admin centre.
Cornwall Council's Cabinet members gave the go-ahead for the first phase of a scheme, but have so far withheld approval to extend the admin centre at an additional cost of £6 million to accommodate a further 300 plus workers.
The council's head of property, Peter Marsh, said the office block, which will be built off Dunmere Road, would be filled by local government workers currently housed in other council properties in Bodmin.
He said there were no plans to move staff there from the former North Cornwall District Council headquarters at Higher Trenant in Wadebridge.
Mr Marsh said the council owned and rented numerous properties in Bodmin, and these would eventually be sold off or handed back to landlords when the new admin centre was built.
He said: "It is important our Bodmin workforce has modern accommodation, but also that we drive down costs. It's not about creating new council jobs, but we hope private companies may now want to look at Beacon Technology Park and create jobs."
A public exhibition of the office plans will be held today (Friday) at the Public Rooms in Bodmin from 1.30pm to 4.30pm as part of a consultation process.
