A CONTROVERSIAL St Ives tourism guide, launched to fill the void after Cornwall Council failed to produce a dedicated local brochure, will now be stocked in Tourist Information Centres (TIC).

Tourism bosses came under fire in January for not including enough detailed local information after they omitted the September Festival in their official online guide. A policy by the tourism body VisitCornwall to include only accredited accommodation originally prevented tourism bosses from endorsing the glossy magazine, Enjoy St Ives.

But now the creators of the new guide have decided to include only accredited accommodation and have gone into partnership with VisitCornwall.

Head of tourism for VisitCornwall, Malcolm Bell, called for unity and for all interested parties to work together.

"I am delighted St Ives Tourist Information Centre is able to support the creators of this exciting new publication for the town," he said.

"It is important visitors know the whole story to our premier local areas and when you are on holiday, relaxing and reading a high quality magazine is an ideal way to get an insight into local life."

Camilla Benians, manager of the Tourist Information Centre, said: "I am sure this new arrangement will benefit everyone, particularly the 124 accommodation providers who are members of the TIC". For further information contact Marco at the Queens Hotel, St Ives, on 01736 796468 or 07702311595.
