Revellers sink 10,000 pints of beer and cider
Revellers sank more than 10,000 pints of beer and cider as a West Country food and drink festival completed another successful year. Visitors to Abbfest, a Devon festival which has raised more than £90,000 for charity since it began in 2004, tucked into the very best of the region's produce over the weekend. Organisers say they expect entrance numbers at the popular Abbotskerswell festival at Ipplepen, near Newton Abbot, to be close to last year's 7,000 despite a wet Sunday. Around 60 stall holders packed into a marquee as visitors quaffed some of the 140 beers and 30 ciders, all produced in Devon.
