CHILDREN'S author Jack Trelawny – creator of the Kernowland series – visited Treleigh Primary School to talk about his work.

Children, teachers and support staff dressed as pirates and pirate mascot Captain Bombadinga popped in to see what all the fuss was about.

Mr Trelawny talked about his connections to Cornwall and his inspiration for his stories.

The children were enthralled and excited at his ideas and listened intently as he read the first chapters of his book The Crystal Pool, which featured a small girl and boy and their adventures in Kernowland.

Opportunity

The children were given the opportunity to buy signed copies of his books.

Year 5 children are looking forward to reading it as their literacy topic book next half-term and excerpts from their own stories will be sent to Mr Trelawny for him to read.

Head teacher Helen Collinge said: "We were thrilled to receive this visit from Jack and to find out more about his series of books. The children were inspired by his talk and are now bursting with ideas for their own stories."
