Children's care records updated in Cornwall
The care records of thousands of children in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly have been switched from paper to electronic systems.
Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT), which employs the county's health visitors and school nurses, have transferred all records for children services into an electronic format.
The switch means that almost 500 members of CFT child health professionals are now able to access the records of more than 24,000 children wherever they are in the county.
The system, known locally as KITS RiO, was designed and built by clinicians and IT experts in Cornwall.

Julie Dawson, chief operating officer, said: "This is great news for children and their families locally and another example of Cornwall leading the way in its use of technology.”
Preparations to modernise children’s records started last year after the successful roll out of the electronic format in mental health, dementia and learning disability services.
Mrs Dawson added: "The launch of KITS RiO across our children's services will enhance the safety and quality of care we provide.
“Nationally, we are recognised for our best practice use of electronic patient records - following the introduction of these across our mental health, learning disability and dementia services.”
The electronic implementation means that Cornwall is now ahead of the national timetable for a paperless NHS by 2018.
