Christmas festival cooks up a storm as chefs celebrate with seasonal samplings

A glittering array of celebrity chefs kicked off the annual Padstow Christmas Festival.

Seasonal cookery demonstrations and culinary delights in the north Cornish fishing town come courtesy of Rick Stein, Jack Stein, Nathan Outlaw, Paul Ainsworth, Mitch Tonks, Chris and James Tanner and Mark Sergeant, amongst others.

The event which attracts thousands of people began yesterday and ends tomorrow and sees the pretty harbour abuzz with visitors.

This year festive delights include live music, a lantern parade and Santa's grotto. The Mark Bullen Jazz Band were first to tune-up on Friday, followed by turns from The Grenaways, St Minver Silver Band, The Bandstand and the Padstow Carollers, in St Petroc Church.

Today it is the turn of The Stowes and Kernow Samba.

And tomorrow's line-up continues with The Fisherman's Friends, Time to Shine and The Glorious Choir.

In the run-up to Christmas the star chefs contributed to The Padstow Cookbook which helped raised funds to hold this year's spectacle.
