City falls silent for funeral of soldier
Gunshots rang out in the centre of Truro yesterday as a funeral service with full military honours was held for a young soldier.
The city centre came to a standstill as the coffin containing the body of Sergeant Aaron Curtis was carried into Truro Cathedral by his colleagues from the Royal Engineers.

Two coach loads of soldiers from Hohne, Germany, where Sgt Curtis was based, came to pay their respects to the 33-year-old, who died from a brain tumour.
Major Jamie Thompson, the officer commanding of the Royal Engineers, paid tribute to his colleague, who served his country in Kosovo, Bosnia and Afghanistan.

Major Thompson told the congregation: "Where he led, men followed."
He described Sgt Curtis as a man who "could find humour in the most desperate of circumstances".
The hymns chosen for the occasion were Jerusalem, I Vow to Thee My Country and Be Thou My Vision and the address was given by the Reverend (Major) Kenneth Wakefield.
Family, friends and colleagues heard that Sgt Curtis was a devoted husband and father, who represented his regiment in football, rugby and cricket. He leaves behind his wife Joe and two children.
