PENZANCE-BASED Pure Class Boxing Club enjoyed a resounding success at the weekend when they travelled to Portsmouth for the WCBC Fight Night.

The club had two fighters at this event – Jamie Hoskin, fighting in a cruiserweight bout and club coach Sean Bowman, fighting for the WCBC Super Featherweight Championship title.

The club had massive support with more than 150 people turning out to cheer on the two Penzance fighters.

First up, was Jamie, fighting an opponent trained by a 6th Dan Black Belt top instructor.

He took the fight to his opponent from the opening in his trademark style.

Jamie covered up in all the right places and let the hammer fly when he could see the shots.

He landed some hard punches on his plucky opponent and threw some great combinations, and was just too strong for him earning a unanimous victory decision.

Next up fighting was club coach Sean Bowman.

This was always set to be the fight of the night. His opponent has won all bar one of his previous bouts and is trained by world renowned pro boxer Colton Lynch in a professional gym, but he was no match for Sean.

Sean owned the fight from the outset, showing everyone there exactly how it's supposed to be done. Sean used his footwork and speed to dodge practically every punch that was thrown at him, countering with some effortless combinations. His opponent was still trying to come forward, but Sean was in a different league and just ducked the punches and landed some hard, sharp shots right on target.

Just before the bell in the first round, Sean caught his opponent with a perfect straight right and his opponent was down and out and it was game over.

This is a great achievement for club coach Sean Bowman, who is going from strength to strength. He is already two time world champion kickboxer, British champion, K1 Irish Anglo champion, European champion and now the new WCBC Super Featherweight champion. Sean has had five knock outs in his last five bouts and is the only kickboxing and WCBC boxing champion in Cornwall. He will next be defending his WCBC title on April 24.

The WCBC is proud to announce that they have just secured another two years sponsorship with their official sponsor Lonsdale who have a legendary history in the sport of boxing. Pure Class is the only affiliated WCBC club in Cornwall and the event will be televised on P4TV and sky channel LA muscle later this month.

Pure Class has some great fights lined up for 2010. Jamie Hoskin will be fighting over eight rounds boxing for a cruiserweight title in April and club coaches Sean Bowman and Mandy Woolcock will be travelling to Cyprus in May representing the country in two international kickboxing bouts.

The Cyprus fights will be televised on Eurosport and Australia and America boxing on sky LA Muscle and P4TV. Sean will be fighting for another European title. Anyone interested in sponsoring the undefeated world champion kickboxer can express an interest by telephoning 07772 489576.

● Pure Class provide training through a variety of classes including childrens, womens only and mixed classes. They offer specialised training in a range of disciplines including kickboxing, boxing only and K1 – all of which Sean is current champion. They also offer private sessions for only £15 where you can be trained one on one with world champion or British champion coaches.

Included in your private lesson is full use of the facilities at the clubs premises RS fitness in Newlyn including treadmills, weights, bikes and showers etc.

The coaching at the club is second to none and they welcome anyone to come and join in or just have a look.

There is a coffee/juice bar and it's a great place for the whole family to enjoy. All the staff at Pure Class are CRB checked and fully insured.

Many parents take advantage of the facilities and use the gym equipment whilst their children participate and have fun in the classes on offer.

“Good on the two of them, but this is a press release, not sports reporting.”
