Club's proud history and bright future
WADEBRIDGE Town FC was founded in 1894 and over the years has enjoyed success in various competitions.
The Durning Lawrence Charity Cup has been won on six occasions – the first time in the 1926/27 season and the last time in 1984/85.
Most recent successes for the first team were in the 2007/08 season winning the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Division 1 West Championship and the League's Charity Vase in 2008.
My first memories of football at Bodieve Park were in the mid-fifties when I used to travel from home in St Merryn with my Dad.

We used to have to leave home an hour and a half before kick-off to ensure a vantage point on the bank. Crowds of two to three thousand were not uncommon in those days.
Success is normally measured by the amount of trophies a club has won but success should also be measured in terms of the amount of football provided for players and spectators alike.
Forty years ago most Youth football was provided in schools with clubs only running sides at Under 18 level.
This has changed dramatically over the years with changes to FA Rules permitting players to play at younger age groups.
Mini Soccer was introduced in 1991 and Wadebridge Town and Wendron United were the first Clubs in Cornwall to take up the new initiative from The FA.
Mini Soccer and Youth football continue to be provided at the Club and there are currently 11 Youth teams from Under 8's to Under 16's as well as a Mini Soccer Centre/Academy.
This includes a girls under 14 team. There are currently at least ten players in the senior squads who started with the Club at the age of five or six.
As well as the Youth set-up we have three adult sides; the first team playing in the South West Peninsula League Division 1 West; the second team playing in the East Cornwall Premier League; and the third team playing in the J.J. Jones Duchy League Division 4.
With so many teams in the Club playing and training facilities are stretched to the limit. The club is extremely grateful for sponsors who help with training facilities costs to centres at Camelford and Bodmin.
It would be great to see Wadebridge have its own all weather facility which would enable the club to provide even more football opportunities for Veterans, Women's, Sunday and Disability Football.
