Fresh, stylish and easy to create the coastal-chic vibe is the perfect look for any holiday home – be it a caravan in Skegness, a beach hut in Bournemouth or a thatched cottage in Cornwall.

Bathroom

Your bathroom is the perfect place to start sculpting your coastal scene. Think shades of blue and crisp whites for your colour palette; keep your storage units white and leave the colour for the walls and window coverings – blue vertical blinds will create a true beach feel with their oh-so nautical theme. See if you can find the perfect nautical blinds for your seaside retreat. To accessorise use nautical items as your theme; model boats, big and unusual shells, dolphin trinkets and anchor wall hangings will keep your look fresh and authentic. Keep your towels blue and white to maintain a constant look throughout.

Living Room

For your living room try stripping back any old carpet to expose the floorboards. You’ve then got two options; polish and leave as bare wood or coat them in a white-wash for a nautical feel. Otherwise match those natural wood tones with some personalised craftwood shutters from Hillarys. If your floor-boards are pine or a light shade of wood, it’s probably best to white-wash them to maximise the coastal look. The same can be said for your cabinets and storage – unless your coffee table or dresser is a deep, dark wood it will look much better white-washed. An oversized nautical chart would make a great feature for a wall hanging.

For colours, teal-grey and silvery blues will work really well here. If your living space is big enough to warrant a feature wall, try a shade of aqua-marine. If you’re pushed for space, keep your walls white and use bright colours such as turquoise on accessorise to inject bright bursts of colour.

Creating a coastal-chic and cosy holiday home is simple, easy and a really good investment as it’s such a timeless look.
