College students have nursing ambitions.
WHEN Sam Chapman, aged just 6, told her family she wanted to be a nurse they had a pretty good idea this would indeed become her career.
With a family full of health professionals, you could say that Sam Chapman, now 19, had little choice, although she did once consider becoming a hairdresser.
With a father and sister who are both paramedics, a mother who trained as a nurse and a nan who was one, it's no surprise that Sam, from Bodmin, is hoping to work in the same sector.
She is currently studying for her Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Health and Community Studies at Cornwall College St Austell and has an interview ahead that could see a third generation of her family entering the nursing profession.

"I have an interview along with two others in my group at the Knowledge Spa at Treliske to get on to the only nursing degree course in Cornwall," she said.
"I've been brought up with a caring attitude and I think as I've seen my family help others it's inspired me to do the same."
Two other students from her course have managed to secure interviews for the nursing degree run from Treliske: Jordan Pengelly, also from Bodmin, and Lauren Mellow from St Austell.
Sam, who already works part-time at the White House care home in Bodmin, said: "Eventually I'd like to work in minor injuries because I like a challenge, and with something different happening every five minutes it keeps you on your toes."
Sam's tutor Debbie Pritchard, curriculum area manager for health, care and early years education, said: "This is the third year I've had the pleasure of teaching Sam; she's been in my department since she came to the college after her GCSEs.
"Sam studied for a BTEC Extended Diploma in health and social care at Level 3 and it's great to see her flourish and find the area of the industry she has passion for.
"We wish Sam, Jordan and Lauren all the best for the interviews and can't wait to hear how they got on."
