AN INQUEST requested by the grieving family of a Fowey teenager who was killed in a road collision, is due to be held next month.

Rosie Allen, 16, lost her life when a Ford Ka driven by Zoe Couch collided with her 49cc moped on Par Moor Road, Par, on January 25, 2010. The IT student died following the accident.

Couch, then aged 19, of Rose Hill, St Blazey, was prosecuted at Truro Crown Court – given an 18-month driving ban and an 18-month community order, with £500 court costs. If a case has already passed through the criminal courts there is no legal requirement for an inquest to be held. However, in November 2011 Miss Allen's grief-stricken family won a battle for her inquest to be held, as they believed important questions about what happened on the day of the accident had not been answered at Crown Court. The inquest is due to take place on July 27, at 1pm in Truro.
