THE celebrations went on long into the night for the Camels fans who must have thought that their chance of reaching the semi-finals had gone with the previous weekend's 3-3 draw at Trefrew Park.

But this victory owed a lot to the Camels' defence, and in particular goalkeeper Josh Colwill, as his late penalty save preserved the lead.

Camels' assistant manager Mark Menhinick said: "It was 10 years ago today that Camelford lost a quarter-final against St Blazey but that memory can be erased now as it is great to have the Town at last reaching a semi-final."

Menhinick had words of praise for his opponents, adding "Godolphin are a good footballing side and will put this behind them to climb the table - we are sure of that."

G's boss Derek Martin added: "We're obviously disappointed to go out of the cup but I think, in truth, that the tie slipped away from us last week when we were twice in a commanding position but failed to see the game through."

The only goal of the game came 15 minutes from time when G's goalkeeper Sean Semmens did well to get a hand to Mark Gusterson's header but David Cann was on hand to score.

Godolphin had the perfect opportunity to force extra time when skipper Kyle Brown was brought down in the box but Phil Lowry's spot-kick was brilliantly saved by Colwill.
