Combine harvester and crops destroyed
Fire fighters wore breathing apparatus to tackle a crop fire which half-destroyed a combine harvester in Somerset. Two appliances from Taunton were mobilised shortly after midday yesterday to attend a fire in a field at Pound Lane, Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton. Crews found the vehicle to be well alight. Four fire fighters donned masks to fight the blaze with three hose jets. The harvester was 50% damaged by fire and 50 square metres of crops were destroyed. The cause was accidental.
