Communities come together for Jubilee celebrations
Communities across Cornwall continued to mark the Diamond Jubilee festivities in style yesterday.
Under largely sunny skies at Threemilestone, near Truro, villagers got into the swing of things with a free jubilee community event at the Threemilestone Methodist Church from noon to 4pm on Monday.
The day catered for all ages, especially children, and featured sack races and bouncy castle fun. Kenwyn Parish Council got in on the action by providing free pasties, cakes and drinks. The event culminated with the 4pm planting of a commemorative tree.
The good spirits continued in Gerrans and Portscatho with an action-packed day that started with a children's sports event, continued with a barbecue and fancy dress procession and ended with an evening of entertainment at the Plume and Harbour Club, with a bonfire from about 10pm.

In Probus, the day started with a commemorative bell ringing in Probus Church before a fancy dress parade and presentation of jubilee coasters in the village hall, followed last night by a torchlight procession to the playing field for the lighting of the beacon and a firework display hosted by Probus Young Farmers.
Delabole, meanwhile, capped three days of jubilee fun by treating its oldest residents to a celebratory lunch and entertainment at the Methodist Church. The evening was highlighted by a concert entitled A Right Royal Occasion with the Mount Charles Silver Band before the lighting of the beacon at Delabole Slate Quarry.
