Community radio station live on internet
A NEW radio station serving the people of West Cornwall goes live for anyone with internet access tomorrow (Friday).
Penwith Radio will start broadcasting on www.penwithradio.org from 7am with a show hosted by Steve West. Sally Peterson, formally of Classic FM, will later present a music and chat show programme.
Julian Horner, the station manager, will cover the afternoon slot, with guest speakers with reviews of topics of local interest, and Dave Pascoe will follow up with a drive time show.
The programmes will be produced from a new state of the art, digital studio.
Penwith Radio is very much inspired by the work of the Penwith's Older People's Forum and is supported by a network of key sponsors which include the Wharfside Shopping Centre, Penzance Computers, and The Carpet Warehouse.
The station's agenda includes a concern for ecological issues and a mission to help younger people develop media skills – all within a schedule that promises sport, the arts, local history, Cornish language and dialect stories, drama and quiz shows.
To get your views on Penwith Radio you can email the station at admin@penwithradio.org or text on 07795526050, call the presenters live on 01736 362884 or go to visit them at the Wharfside Shopping Centre in Penzance.
