Concern as section of Portreath harbour wall falls into sea
OFFICIALS are keeping a close eye on the harbour wall at Portreath after a section collapsed into the sea.
As the waves continue to batter the coast tonight, fences have been erected to keep people away.
Cornwall councillor Joyce Duffin said: “A fairly large piece of the harbour wall near Dead Man’s Hut has fallen into the outer harbour at Portreath.
“Members of the Portreath Harbour Association and others helped fence off the area today.

“Cornwall Council's Maritime Manager attended and it was agreed to move the fencing further back as there is another area looking unsafe.
“Signs have also been made up to go on the fence to warn people about it.”
She said it has not been possible to carry out any repairs given the storm today.
“The situation will continue to be monitored,” she added. “Cornwall Council will be able to make a claim for emergency works assistance.”
She thanked everyone in the local community for their swift action in making the area safe.
