Cornish Mutual celebrates 110 years of success
A TRURO-based insurance company is celebrating over a century of success.
Cornish Mutual will commemorate its 110th anniversary at the end of September and has been hosting a series of events to mark the milestone.
The celebrations will culminate with an open day on Friday September 27 when members will be invited to tour Cornish Mutual’s Truro headquarters and find out more about the people and processes behind the company – as well as enjoy a cream tea.
Sarah Findlay, business analyst for Cornish Mutual and the organiser of the open day, said: “Cornish Mutual is very proud of its history, it was formed by a small group of farmers in 1903 and has gone on to provide insurance services to people and businesses across the South West for 110 years.

“But what we do isn’t just about insurance claims – it’s about being at the heart of the local community, and working hard to benefit all our Members.”
Display boards showcasing more about Cornish Mutual’s work – including its fundraising activities for this year’s chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) will be set up throughout the building.
Cornish Mutual is the only general insurer in the South West offering insurance to farms, businesses and individuals.
In 2012, the Truro-based firm became the first mutual insurance company in the UK to hold Chartered Insurer status, one of less than 22 insurers in the country to achieve this highest level of recognition from the CI institute.
