Cornish Pirates bid to end slump in form at Moseley
The Cornish Pirates travel to the West Midlands on Friday night to take on Moseley at Billesley Common (7.30pm) looking to end a slump in form which has seen them win just once since the turn of the year.
Director of Rugby Ian Davies has taken positive action ahead of this Greene King Championship clash by making nine changes to his starting XV following a dismal 18-18 draw with bottom of the table Ealing on Sunday.
Chris Morgan again leads the team but the back row is bolstered by the return of Number 8 Laurie McGlone making his first appearance since September following a neck injury.
Alex Cheesman comes in at flanker for Joe Atkinson with Will Graulich replacing injured lock Neale Patrick. Hooker Rob Elloway joins Alan Paver and Shane Cahill in an experienced front row.
The most drastic changes come in the backs though with Mike Pope preferred at scrum-half and Angus Sinclair getting the nod at fly-half over Kieran Hallett who misses the trip altogether.
Kyle Moyle and Junior Fatialofa survive with recalls to the starting line-up for centre Tom Hendrickson and full-back Craig Holland. Canada international Matt Evans returns to the wing after a brief injury absence.
On the bench there are recalls for prop Kieran Davies, back row Matt Bolwell and centre Tom Riley.
Cornish Pirates: Holland, Evans, Hendrickson, Fatialofa, Moyle, Sinclair, Pope; Cahill, Elloway, Paver, Graulich, Barry, Morgan (capt), Cheesman, McGlone.
Replacements – Carpenter, Davies, Andrew, Parker, Bolwell, Kessell, Riley
