Editor Jacqui Walls said: "Cornwall has a huge diaspora, with more Cornish people living in Australia than currently live in the county itself.

"Taking this into account, plus the prohibitive cost of postage for some of our readers who live outside the area, encouraged us to start looking at ways in which we could get the paper to them.

"It launched just before Christmas and feedback has already been very positive with people living across the Tamar and abroad.

“Unfortunately people have got too used to getting free content from the net (some of us pay a quid for the Times of course.) Small niche operations like the Cornishman have no option but to charge, their ability to draw advertisers is limited. Will this lead to them closing down? Only time will tell.”

“Shagrats as it is a weekly paper it would only cost £4 per month, not the £25 you have suggested. Not for everyone but a nice option for people to have. All the best, Dave.”

“They have not really thought the pricing through ! I get all my news from the net for free. So why pay 25 quid a month ?”
