Cornwall AC veterans in impressive form
THREE of Cornwall Athletic Club's top veteran athletes – Neil Tunstall, Mo Pearson and Mike Dugan have been at the British Masters Track and Field Championships and in Neil's case at the European Masters Championships over the past few weeks, writes Alan Rowling.
At the European event, held in the tri-border region of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, Neil came home with two gold medals and one silver.
Competing in the 50-54 age group, the Cornwall AC sprint hurdler won the 100 metre hurdles in 14.40 setting a new British Masters record, which he had already equalled at the British Championships in July and then formed part of the victorious 4 x 400 metre relay team, which beat France by over one second with Germany third.
Neil's silver medal came in the 400 metre hurdles, where he clocked 58.77, being beaten by fellow Britain Jonathan Tilt, who crossed the line in 58.41.
