Cornwall Camper Company's managing director meets Prime Minister David Cameron
Prime Minister David Cameron is known for his love of the Cornish coastline, but last week the county arrived at 10 Downing Street in the shape of The Cornwall Camper Company.
Jess Ratty, managing director of the company, attended a reception at 10 Downing Street on Thursday, to meet Mr Cameron, as part of the Start Up Loans UK funding scheme, which helped fuel the beginnings of the business.
It also marked the announcement that the Government is investing £69m into supporting start-up businesses in the UK.
Miss Ratty and her business partner, Ben Ford, 40, launched The Cornwall Camper Company, a VW camper hire business, late last year thanks to a £5000 Start Up Loan, which is a Government funded scheme to provide loans and mentors for entrepreneurs.

The company used the £5000 investment to provide a cash flow enabling them to accept a development grant from the Clay Country Local Action from the Rural Development Programme for England.
Mr Cameron said he was “determined to do all I can to support the British economy and that includes helping small businesses and budding entrepreneurs to get on.”
Over the past two years tens of thousands of people have been helped by the loan to turn their ideas in reality, and the additional support will help thousands more, he explained.
“My message is simple: if you have drive, determination and are prepared to work hard, we will back you.”
Miss Ratty said: “The Start Up Loan was the first time anyone had recognised and believed in the potential of our business idea and that support has proven invaluable over the last year.
“Without the loan we would have been unable to accept the grant funding and would not be where we are today.”
In the last year The Cornwall Camper Company has expanded by 300 per cent due to the investments and have helped the duo to build and launch a three strong fleet of VW Campervans for holiday hire, weddings and events.
Mr Ford said: “It’s schemes like this that can really change the lives of young entrepreneurs – with one opportunity that can provide the springboard from which to launch a business.”
