Cornwall Council considers mine restoration at Troon
Ambitious plans to redevelop King Edward Mine at Troon, near Camborne, are being considered by Cornwall Council. The aim of the proposals is to make the site more financially stable by increasing visitor numbers and developing new income streams "through the sensitive adaptation of redundant buildings". The proposals include the £1.3 million redevelopment of the redundant count house and carpenters' shop complexes to create work spaces. The assay office complex would be converted into a cafe at a cost of about £250,000, and about £1.1m would be spent on refurbishing the boiler house and main museum buildings. Work is on-going to apply for grants.
