The opening event of the  Cornish Cup  Cycling Timetrials for 2013 season took place at the weekend, hosted by Penzance Wheelers (PZW), over a two lap 20-mile sporting course at Laddock Valley near Truro.

With a large field of riders, all of the top clubs were well represented, including many of the county's big hitters, opening up their season's campaigns, and going  head to head for the first time this year.

Despite gusty, near freezing conditions, competition remained tight, with last year's champion Sandy Gourley (PZW) claiming maximum 100 points in a time of 50mins 14 secs.

Paul Friday (PZW) and Drummond Masterton (Cyclelogic) secured 99 and 98 points respectively.
