Cornwall excels at Taste of the West awards
Cornish companies have won top prizes at a food and drink industry awards ceremony.
The Taste of the West awards recognised top producers across the South West of England.
Cornish Charcuterie was awarded the top prize in the ready meals, soup and light eats category and the Cornish Duck Company came first amongst burgers, faggots and meatballs.
The Cornish Pizza Company in St Agnes picked up the prize for best South West local food takeaway and Wing of St Mawes was named best South West online retailer.

More than 1,000 products were entered for the awards with 166 winning a gold award, 216 with a Silver Award and 213 picking up a Bronze Award. Businesses in Cornwall picked up 25 gold awards.
John Sheaves, chief executive of Taste of the West, said: “Cornwall produces food and drink of an exceptionally high quality and continues to thrive in the Taste of the West awards.
“For a county to win two best of category awards and two hospitality and retail awards is an excellent achievement. Our congratulations go to all the Cornish award winners on their outstanding success at this year’s awards.”
The prize-giving ceremony took place yesterday at the Bristol Pavilion, the home of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club.
