Cornwall leading the world at hyperfast link trial
A "WORLD FIRST" was on show at a Truro company as hyperfast broadband became a reality.
BT has showed that infrastructure currently being installed to bring superfast broadband to Cornwall will make possible internet download speeds not previously thought possible.

Donna Edwards, Arcol's production manager, making use of hyperfast broadband at a trial held at Threemilestone.
The trial – held at the power resistor manufacturers Arcol at Threemilestone – offered a tantalising glimpse into the future in a live demonstration before assembled technology experts.
Superfast broadband gives download speeds of 80 megabytes per second (Mbps) but BT showed how the fibre being installed will be able to carry speeds up to 1,000 times faster, at 10 gigabytes per second (Gbps).

The trial saw multiple massive file downloads to a computer at the Arcol office which still failed to reach the full 10Gbps capacity.
Alun Morgan, technical director at Arcol, said the trial was a "proof of concept" which is exciting for Cornish businesses planning ahead.
He said: "No matter how much data the new networks want to push around, our cables will handle it.
"It's quite a nice feeling. It's not often that Cornwall has anything first technology-wise. It's indicative of what is happening because of the superfast network."
Arcol is already able to hold multiple video-conference conversations with international clients because of the superfast connection.
Ranulf Scarborough, from BT, said: "The fibre pipe will stay the same, but the electronics at either end will change.
"What we are showing you is a world-first customer trial of a 10Gbps connection."
