Cornwall runner Stepto in superb Bristol Half-Marathon win
Cornwall's Emma Stepto smashed her personal best to clinch one of the best wins of her career in the Bristol half marathon on Sunday.
The 43-year-old Cornwall AC runner, who lives near Redruth, carved 1mins 29secs off her previous best to not only break 75 minutes for the first time but also dip under 74 minutes with a sparkling 73mins 40secs.
“That meant the world to me” said Stepto.
“I have always wanted to cross the finish line and break the tape of a big race like this. I love the Bristol half marathon and it is just brilliant to win it.”

To put Stepto’s performance into context it lifts her to sixth in the 2013 UK Rankings and is also the fourth fastest time in British history by a woman over the age of 40.
It is also the quickest time ever run by a member of a Cornish club and second only to fellow county runner and former British international Marian Sutton from Looe who clocked 69:41 in the Great North Run 16 years ago.
Sutton was running for Bristol club Westbury Harriers at the time.
