Cornwall sport badly hit by wintry blast
Cornwall sport has been badly hit by the blast of wintry conditions with many of Saturday's football and rugby fixtures being postponed.
In rugby, the Cornish Pirates' Championship match away to Rotherham Titans was called off on Friday and has been rescheduled for next Saturday, while this morning Camborne's Tribute South West One west clash at Berry Hill joined the casualties.
Also postponed was Wadebridge Camels' South West One west fixture against Oldfield Old Boys at Molesworth Field, and in Tribute Western Counties West, St Ives' game at Tiverton was called off.
In local football, Truro City were left with a blank day with their Blue Square Bet South match at Basingstoke frozen off, while the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League programme was badly hit.
By 11am today, all nine premier division games were off after Blaise Park failed a pitch inspection for the St Blazey v Dartmouth game.
In division one west, Helston v Godolphin, Mousehole v Foxhole and Truro City v Wadebridge were the only games left on.
The Westinsure Cornwall Senior Cup third round tie between Porthleven and Camelford, switched to Gala Parc after two earlier postponements at Camelford, was still on this morning.
