This is Cornwall

Cornwall's new super council has unveiled its logo – attracting a broad range of comments, some even suggesting it resembles boxing promoter Don King's hair.

The new logo was selected by the council on Monday after an in-house team at County Hall came up with a shortlist of suggested logos.

Councillors chose the new logo which they described as “tartan” and “like flames” and also decided that the existing logo of the county crest and chough will be retained for ceremonial use.

What do you think of the new Cornwall Council logo? Have you got any alternative designs which could be used? Post any comments below and email any alternative designs to rwhitehouse@c-dm.co.uk

“Looks like the sort of logo you would expect on a "Welcome to Hell" sign.”

“In a REAL democratic country like Switzerland a vote is taken on EVERY decision made by overpaid zealots at officialdom offices. Why don't we all march to Westminster and DEMAND that STATE workers numbers are reduced. If we are successful we won't have very much tax at all ever to pay and there won't be crazy decisions and time spent generating great cost on unimportant things such as logos. As someone has already mentioned, the County Council and its staff operate because of the huge taxes we have to pay. we do not need many of them to organize a few things. the redundant staff can go and create new business making Cornwall richer and more pleasant a place in which to live.”

“It tock a design team seval months to come up with this new logo ??
I find that hard to belive.
If we had to have a new Logo could they have not asked local schools to have a go.
It would have been cheaper and may be better.
His this a sign of things to come? no though to cost .( now all our signs & Letter heads have to be changed)”

“Having read all the comments made from 25/06 to 01/07 it is good to know I am not the only one to a) dislike and b) mistrust the logo (LOGO?) being introduced by the re-hashed local government. There are one or two comments I disagree with, but do not have the space here to define the terms 'logo' or 'local government' for those commentators who seem to be misinformed as to the true meaning of the words. One quick definition of our local government - Sawsnek fol!”
