A LONGSERVING Cornwall councillor was found dead during her milk round near St Martin-in-Meneage on the Lizard on Wednesday morning.

Pam Lyne, who is believed to be 78, was the longest serving member of Manaccan Parish Council and has worked as a councillor for 40 years.

The ward councillor for St Keverne and Meneage, Mrs Lyne has also been a Cornwall Council Cabinet member for the economy and chairman of planning at Kerrier District Council.

Grace Hatton, Manaccan Parish Council clerk, who first met Mrs Lyne when she became clerk nearly 30 years ago, said: "I was very sorry to hear the news. This will be a great shock to everyone."
