Councillor retires due to ill-health
A LONG-STANDING St Ives town councillor has been forced to retire from office early because of ill-health.
Councillor Colin Sanger, who was mayor of St Ives in 2008 and 2009, underwent emergency surgery last week at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

Mr Sanger, who served the Lelant and Carbis Bay ward, has been a councillor since 2001.
He is also a keen photographer and photojournalist. He has contributed numerous pictures to The Cornishman and The St Ives Times and Echo over the years and plans to continue doing so.

His friend, mayor-elect Councillor Colin Nicholls, said: "Colin has done a lot for the town. We are looking forward to him taking his place again in the community he has served for the past decade. He will come back and we will give him every support we can.
"Although he is retiring I am looking forward to calling on his past experience as mayor."
Mr Sanger had already announced his intention to stand down at the council elections in May.
