Country house open day for Macmillan
An historic country house is to host a charity fundraiser with hundreds of singers and a big band sound.
Ugbrooke House will open its doors to the Big Noise Chorus and other artists and stalls in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Sunday.
Lord and Lady Clifford, who own the 900-year-old estate, are offering private tours of their home in return for a £4 donation.
Lord Clifford revealed a personal involvement with Macmillan, who supported his mother when she died of cancer. He said: "Katherine Clifford sadly passed away in 1999 from lymphoma cancer, previously having fought cancer of the thorax and during her last few hours, a Macmillan nurse held one hand by her bed whilst I held the other. I want to raise money to help other people affected by cancer and also promote all the good work that is done by the Macmillan Nurses."
