It has rained all day and well into the previous night, the river is swollen and is in danger of overflowing. Before the Colliford dam was built the Moor flooded regularly but since then it has become a rarity.
When it floods it brings down a huge quantity of leaves and debris. The leaves and the silt are a good composting agent but the seeds of the Hammer Sedge and the Flag Iris are not so welcome.
Firewood in various forms lies scattered on the grass, and a trawl usually brings a few unusual objects to the trailer.
