Motor trial
ALEX RISES:
Fine clear skies greeted riders for the running of the Colwith two day event. With 80 plus riders for Saturday's trial, three laps of eight subs, were used in the stream and over banks, roots and well-placed boulders. While well used these days the ground still proved well able to take marks off the unwary. With sections marked on the easy side, scores were kept to a reasonable level. On the blue course, young Alex Bland had an excellent ride for a single dab with Ian Martin and Simon James, following behind on six.

Croquet
OPEN DAY:
Cornwall Croquet Club's Open Day, on Sunday started with ominous dark clouds overhead and a light shower. However, the weather inland probably was responsible for the disappointing number of visitors during the day. Visitors get the chance to play golf croquet, after some basic tuition by club members, who then shepherd them around the lawns. Fortunately, the weather cleared up and those visitors who came enjoyed the experience, challenge and the friendly atmosphere at the club. Several potential new members will attend the four-week coaching course before deciding whether or not to join the club who will be playing host to a local WI and also to members of the Porthpean Golf Club on two evenings in July. Several organisations have been entertained in the past; having a fun evening of golf croquet, and other allied competitions, with the attendant help of club members. Some students from Poltair School also have an annual visit for a taster session. Club afternoons are Wednesday and Saturday for Association Croquet, Thursday & Sunday for Golf Croquet, starting at 2pm. visitors are very welcome. For more information phone 01726 65904.
