Crowds defy the rain for a day of community activities in Penzance
AN ANNUAL event in Penzance which aims to bring the community together was a success despite miserable weather, the organisers have said.
Treneere's All Together Now Festival was held last Thursday at the Princess May Recreation Ground, where people showed up in good numbers to enjoy a raft of activities from a fun dog show to having their photo taken with a local torchbearer, Emma Davidson.

The event was opened by Peter Michell a trustee of the Emily Bolitho Trust, which awarded £25,000 to The Neighbourhoods Together Partnership so that the office on Treneere could remain open and the team could continue their work.
Audrey Bell from the Neighbourhoods Together Partnership said: "Once again, the support we have had has been fantastic and we would like to pass on our thanks. We hope that everyone who came along had an enjoyable time. It has been a lovely atmosphere and it is great to see local families enjoying the activities on offer."

The event was organised in partnership with Princess May Recreation Trust, The Conservation Trust, Cornwall Fire and Rescue, Treneere Team Spirit and South Shore.
Audrey added: "The festival first started in 2006 when Treneere was allocated £1.6m central government funding to improve the quality of life for residents living in the neighbourhood. Five years on and the area is going from strength to strength."
Chairman of the Princess May Recreation Trust, Melville Durrant, said: "The trust is always looking to improve and bring more attractions to the site. We're hoping to continue working in partnership and growing in the future."
Other activities on the day included bouncy castles, boot sales, and a Wheels of Fire skateboarding organised by South Shore surf and skate shop. Prizes were provided by Olly Clark and the shop.
