Cscape explore what happens when the shops shut
SHOPS, salsa, second home owners and survival are all on the agenda for the next production by one of Cornwall's most successful physical theatre companies, Cscape, as they bring their latest work back to Cornwall this autumn.
The dynamic company has carved a name for itself across Cornwall and the UK for creating highly theatrical work, which combines dance, film, music and writing into a unique blend of physical theatre that is evocative, stimulating and thought-provoking.

This latest production uses Cscape's impressive style of physical story telling to tell the tales of villages and the people who live in them, looking at what they do after the shops close for the night and what happens when the shutters come down for the last time.
Evocative, charming and funny, When the Shops Shut, brings the characters found in rural communities to life in a vivid blend of dance, theatre, film, poetry and music.
Featuring the collaborative work of an exceptionally talented creative team including choreographer T C Howard (ex-Vincent Dance Theatre, VTol, Frantic Assembly and David Glass Ensemble), Helen Tiplady and Sally Williams (co-artistic directors of Cscape), the film work of Mark Jenkin and the beautiful poetry of Anna Maria Murphy (Kneehigh and Radio 4) and the quick witted quips of Murray Lachlan Young (Radio 4's Saturday Live).
When the Shops Shut draws on issues that will affect a large percentage of people living in villages and small communities in Cornwall, such as the influx of properties being bought as second homes, the threat of closures of vital village facilities as well as the camaraderie that exists in our communities.
Catch the show at one of the following venues: Burrell Theatre, Truro, on Thursday, October 15, at 7.30pm (01872 879500), October 23 at the Tolmen Centre, Constantine, 7.30pm (01326 341353) and November 7 at Grampound Community Hall, 7.30pm, 01726 883874.
