Dartmoor film bids to win link to band's new album
An Icelandic band renowned for its ethereal sound could be about to set one of their haunting tracks against the rugged landscape of Dartmoor.
Sigur Rós, the acclaimed ambient/post-rock outfit from Reykjavík, recently invited directors to create an original music video for a song from their new album, Valtari.
Devon filmmaker Benjamin Borley rose to the challenge and took to the moor in August where he shot the film single-handedly using just one actress and the stunning countryside.
The video captures dreamy, dance sequences against a series of well-known locations, including Postbridge, Haytor, Merrivale and Bellever

Ben, from Exeter, said he had been a fan of the group for some time, not just musically but because of their collaborative approach to art.
"I really like the way they build relationships and interact with other artists such as photographers and filmmakers," he explained. "One of the things I like is the ambiguity of their songs and I really wanted that to come across in the finished film."
Ben's most recent film, Until the Dawn, won best film at last year's Two Short Nights festival and some of his footage was featured in Ridley Scott's recent BBC programme Britain in a Day.
He currently has an exhibition at the Grapevine, in Exmouth, inspired by American poet TS Eliot, which explores the "people and places of the Devon coast".
The competition-winning video will be selected by the group and will become part of the Sigur Rós Mystery Film Experiment. The result will be announced next month.
Sigur Ros lead singer Jonsi Birgisson composed the score for Cameron Crowe's hit movie We Bought A Zoo, which was based on the true story of how writer Benjamin Mee took over the running of Dartmoor wildlife Park.
