Day 1 of Newquay Beer Festival a huge success
The Organisers of a charity event in Newquay are "Over the moon", after a successful first day of their weekend-long event.
Hundreds of revellers packed into the Newquay Beer Festival Village at Hendra Holiday Park, as they sampled over 50 real ales, 10 ciders and a number of lagers on offer, in great weather conditions.
Organised and run by volunteers from the group, they are raising cash for Cornwall Hospice Care, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Childrens Hospice South West, and Carly Taylor Fights Back. The event is supported by St Austell Brewery, and the Maharajah Indian Restaurant in Newquay.
The bands and acts on-stage also helped the day go with a bang, bringing with them a great variety of musical styles to enhance the already electric atmosphere. The event kicked off with local group Oll An Gwella, before Alan Thaine, Porky Morcom, Strawdogs, The Prevention and Route 66 saw the event into the evening.

Matt Bunt from Newquay Towan Blystra Lions said: "It was great to see so many faces at the first day, and we are well on our way to raising some serious cash for four really worthwhile causes here in Cornwall.
"The atmosphere was really good, and everyone was in good spirits. We must say a huge thank-you to all our volunteers for helping run everything, and of course the brilliant acts that entertained us all day - all of which, have donated their time for free.
The second day of Newquay Beer Festival kicks off at 11am Saturday 21st September, and entertainment includes Lawrey, Robyn Keen, and the Freedom/Guilt Equation.
"Tickets are still available on the gate at just £3" continued Matt. "For this, you will get a souvenir glass, and also the chance to sample over 50 real ales from across the UK at just £2.50 a pint. Plus, camping is also available from £6 per pitch, just seconds walk from the Festival village."
