Dead whale is found floating off Devon coast
A dead Minke whale has been spotted off Burgh Island.
The 25ft adult whale was at first mistaken for an abandoned sail from a windsurf board. But as lifeguard teams approached they found it was a body of a whale.
Lizi Rudd managed to snap this picture as it was towed away from the island. It is now decomposing on the rocks at remote Butter Cove at Thurlstone.
Lindy Hingley, of Brixham Seawatch, said: "This is interesting because we had a live sighting of a Minke near Salcombe about a week ago and it is very likely this is the same animal, which is sad."

She said she had had reports of three or four sightings in the channel a year.
Steve Hussey from Devon Wildlife Trust said: "It is not a rare animal in our waters, they are there all the time but we just don't see them. They are particularly common off the west coast of Ireland and with the westerly winds, I think it could have been blown in.
