Defra accused over horse meat
Defra ministers have been accused of being "asleep on the job" in their response to some Findus beef lasagne being found to contain up to 100% horse meat.
Environment Secretary Owen Paterson left junior food minister David Heath to face the media from his Somerset, constituency amid claims "criminal acts" had caused the health fraud scandal. The Government was urged to convene Cobra as Labour's Mary Creagh said: "Complacent ministers appear to be asleep on the job."
