A dairy is hoping to cause a splash at this year's Royal Cornwall Show with a stunt involving a diver leaping 30ft into a pool of milk.

Colorado-based stuntman Professor Splash will make the death-defying dive into just 12 inches of milk, supplied by Trewithen Dairy.

The dairy is staging the event to launch a rebrand of its product ranges.

Splash, otherwise known as Darren Taylor, is the only diver in the world to have mastered the art of shallow water diving, plummeting from as high as 80ft. He has more than 25 years of professional high-diving experience and holds eight world records – but he has never attempted a dive into milk. The event at the Wadebridge show on June 8 will create a new world record.

Speaking from Denver, Colorado, Professor Splash said: "I've been diving into water for over 25 years but I've never hurtled into milk before, so I've been doing some important technical research.

"There is a difference in the density of milk so I'm taking all this into very serious consideration. I've never been to Cornwall either, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it all from a high height – apparently I should be able to see the sea from the top of the stand before my jump."

Bill Clarke, owner of Trewithen Dairy, said: "We definitely wanted to make a major impact with our launch at the Royal Cornwall Show and what could be a bigger and better way to do it than with the world record-holding Professor Splash?

"Our customers can now follow the plans and progress on our social media feeds and get involved with the excitement."

Regular updates about Professor Splash and his preparations for the Trewithen Daring Dive will be available on a new "splash" web page at www.trewithendairy.co.uk and on the dairy's Facebook page and Twitter account.
