Doel's late goal earns Bodmin deserved point
Lee Doel scored an 86th minute goal to earn a deserved point for Bodmin Town from a 2-2 draw at Ivybridge Town.
The point took Ivybridge to the top of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division table with 16 points from seven games – but they knew they had been in a match.
Bodmin played well and the only blot on their copybook was a 44th minute straight red card for new signing Chris Wright.
The striker, who was making his debut, was sent off for foul play and left Bodmin to play the entire second half with ten men.
Bodmin had made the perfect start when man of the match Luke Hodge, playing alongside Wright in attack, fired them into a 13th minute lead and they had chances to increase their lead before Ivybridge equalised through Joe Truelove in the 34th minute.
Andy Neal then put Ivybridge ahead two minutes into the second half and it looked as though Bodmin were in for a backs against the wall battle.
But they more than matched the in-form Ivybridge and it was no more than they deserved when Lee Doel, who has made a superb start to the season, shot the equaliser four minutes from time.
Bodmin: Miller, Morgan, Jewell, Chambers, Simmonds, L Doel, Matthews, Ludlam, Hodge, Wright, Lindsay. Subs: Stapleton, N Doel, Hobbs.
