At around 8pm on Friday evening Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service received a call to a dog that had become trapped in china-clay waste mud, at Kernick Dam, Treviscoe. The dog was stuck about 30 metres from hard standing ground.

Two major pumps, two specialist rescue vehicles and a four-wheel drive appliance were sent from St Dennis, St Austell and Bodmin. Two officers also attended. The dog - a 4-year-old female standard poodle - was rescued by crews wearing dry suits, with 4 rescue lines and 3 inflatable rescue paths to reach the animal.

The dog was safely given back to the owner uninjured.
