Dogs have their day as beach bans lifted
The long wait is over for beach-loving dogs, as the end of the summer season heralds the lifting of bans across the region.
Owners are celebrating the easing of restrictions in Torquay, with a series of seaside races and a "lookalike" contest.
The annual Dog Day on Oddicombe beach marks the start of the winter season when dogs are once more given free run of the resort's sand and surf.
The event, organised by the Blue Cross pet rehoming centre in Torbay and the Friends of Babbacombe Cliff Railway, helps raise money for homeless pets cared for by the charity.
