Visitors to the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon are getting the chance to learn about a diverse range of wildlife.

The charity is offering a series of Wild Walks tours around its headquarters near Sidmouth to allow visitors to discover more about the area's diverse habitat including reptiles and birds.

It is also offering a series of walks and talks discussing the charity's work and the animals it cares for at the centre.

The Donkey Sanctuary's wildlife expert, James Chubb, said: "Over the coming years we are going to explore further ways in which we can combine donkey welfare with improving and protecting habitats for wildlife.

"The weather so far this year has been unkind to many species of wildlife, and has affected butterflies particularly badly.

"Those taking part will also find out how to help the bees and butterflies in their garden whose recovery will be dependent on better weather next year."

The next Wild Walk will take place on August 23 from 11am to 1.30pm looking at birds in the Weston Valley.

Participants can take part in the walks in return for a donation to the charity, which cares for rescued and unwanted animals.
