Doublebois caravan dealer wins national award
A Doublebois caravan dealer has beaten the big boys in a national competition to win a prestigious award.
Darren Bull, who runs Atlantic Caravans at Doublebois was surprised to be named as the winner of the Caravan Dealer of the Year 2013 competition run by the Caravan Talk website.
Atlantic Caravans is just five-years-old and is attracting custom from all over the county and from much further afield.
The award was presented at the NEC in Birmingham and Mr Bull knew he was on the shortlist but it was not until the announcement was made that he knew he was in first place.

Mr Bull said: “I was more surprised than anyone to win, but proud as well.”
“We beat massive dealers from up country because this competition is unique in being about quality rather than quantity.
“When it comes down to number of votes, the big boys are always the ones likely to win because of the size of their customer base.
“But what counted here was the quality of the responses from customers who were asked to describe the helpfulness and level of service.”
The Caravan Talk website is dedicated to supplying caravan information for caravan owners from how to choose the right gas to security advice.
The winners of the awards were chosen by members of the public in eight different categories.
The categories included the best servicing, the best towcar, the best Euro campsite, the best UK campsite, the industry personality of the year and the Robert Jackson award category.
It was very satisfying to be recognised for the hard work done by the team of five who are employed at Atlantic and on the adjoining camp site, Mr Bull said.
He added: “We try to give as unbiased an opinion as we can on all the products, whether new or second hand.
“If I think a customer’s initial choice is wrong for them, for whatever reason, I will tell them so and provide as much information as I can to show them what other options they have.”
Mr Bull attends shows throughout the country and is gaining business from people who have a pitch somewhere in the county and want a reliable local dealer to consult.
Mr Bull said: “Word of mouth is our best marketing tool and we are definitely growing.
“It’s good for our business and good for Cornwall because we are keeping money in the county that might otherwise be spent elsewhere and we are bringing new money into the county.
“Continued growth will mean we expect to create new jobs in the future.”
