Drug user stole £250 of goods from town stores
A DRUG user committed three shoplifting offences when she was not taking her regular prescription, stealing goods worth £250 in Falmouth.
Kate Martin, 38, of Permarin Road, Penryn, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates' Court to stealing bedding sets worth £150 from Sainsbury's, and nail pens worth £56.97 and sun cream worth £50.30 from Boots on dates in June and August.
Alison May, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said in each case she had been spotted stealing on CCTV. She had previous convictions, her latest record showing cautions for drugs and theft last year.
Her solicitor, Deborah Von Kohler, said Martin's drugs problem was managed by prescription. At that time she had not been fully engaged with her help team. She was now getting regular help. Martin was given a conditional discharge for a year and told to pay compensation of £107.33 and £50 costs.
